Saturn, Neptune, Pluto and the North Node

“Crossing roads, bridges and borders are very important transitions in dreams. The dreamer is passing from the known to the unknown. The crossroads is the place where time and timeless meet. Time is static, timeless is creative.” Marion Woodman

In the more recent history of Astrology the discovery of the asteroids has to do with the re-emergence of the feminine – in both men and women as well as in society. The feminine encourages a holistic orientation (integrating and honoring the levels of body, mind and spirit)  as opposed to the prevalent linear and compartmentalized orientation we see all around us.

As this week draws to a close there are two very important aspects at play – Saturn squares Neptune exactly and Pluto conjuncts the North Node exactly. If over time in your attempts to live a more soulful or soul directed life you have encountered experiences which are  part of a pattern of limitation or frustration, there is an opportunity now to get to the core of the beliefs that are generating those kinds of experiences. These limiting beliefs or thought patterns can come down through the bloodlines or can be adopted through the teachings of the family, religion, culture etc. Many of the limitations can come from ideas about “how things have to be” and rule out the soul’s yearnings. Take a good look at what you are ruling out as possibilities and why. Explore options and allow yourself to be in new territory. Be open in your thinking about the road ahead.

The Saturn Neptune alignment provides an excellent time to consider how you integrate your higher aspirations or dreams into your mundane life. If there is a tendency to get discouraged or overwhelmed too early in the process the forces of Saturn may need to be adjusted. If there is a tendency to spend too much time in the dream world the influence of Neptune may need to be brought into a better balance.

Crossroads offer an opportunity for expansion and growth.  Look to your chart to see what areas of life these planetary alignments are operating or call and schedule a brief reading about how and where it is manifesting in your life.

“Jung said what is not made conscious comes to us as Fate.” Marion Woodman

First Quarter Moon

To resolve our past requires knowledge.
To forge our future we need courage.
To experience the present we must develop dedication.
Our thinking needs riddles to wake up.
Our feeling needs pain to mature.
Our willing needs resistance to become strong . Rudolph Steiner

The First Quarter Moon is Sunday June 12 at 21 Virgo. This time and the week preceding can often be a time of encountering challenges, obstacles and delays related to intentions. With prevailing influences it is wise to keep in mind that the polarities of seeming expansion and  then contraction are strong influences now. Keep your vision clear. Work your way through challenges while keeping moderation in mind. Stay clear of inflated flights of fancy or getting overly discouraged by setbacks.
Eris – the Warrior Goddess is aligned with Uranus. There can be unexpected and surprising disruptions occurring now – both personally and globally. It is important to remain true to your deeper calling or soul intention despite what unexpected twists and turns life may take now.

Jupiter, the North Node and Pluto

“Sooner or later something seems to call us onto a particular path… this is what I must do, this is what I’ve got to have. This is who I am.” James Hillman
This week the Sun/Venus conjunction in Gemini has been squaring the Lunar Nodes of life path and destiny. This represents an important crossroads on your life’s journey – a time to choose whether you are going to go forward the as you have been doing or whether you are going to proceed according to a deeper, more authentic calling. With Pluto aligned favorably with Jupiter and the North Node there is an expansive opportunity at hand to see your life path more clearly and to have a new depth of perception of what has held you back and what needs to change. These perceptions can come at random times so it is best to provide extra down time to increase the recognition and build awareness and commitment as you move forward.
Eris is aligned with Uranus – the Great Awakener – now. This is one of several symbols of the revolutionary times in which we are living. The revolution has an inner and outer component to it – we see it in societies globally as well as individual dynamics. There is a strong desire for change and transformation. Do be aware of parts of your thinking that have kept you in an unproductive holding pattern and limited your possibilities for too long. These can fall away now due to the opportunity for deeper perception and the ability to see a clearer path ahead.
“Taking time is what is so difficult. Our cultural upbringing teaches us to plan and run as fast as we can towards our goals. It is our very running that takes us away from our depths of feeling.” Marion Woodman

On June’s Astrology

“How we see the world is shaped by our thoughts and beliefs.  These beliefs come from our upbringing, from our cultural context and from our own life experiences.  Our thoughts and beliefs affect our moods, how we interact with others and how we act and structure our lives.  This lunar cycle is focused on drawing our attention to our thoughts and beliefs and to look at whether we are living with limiting or destructive beliefs and seeing life through our own projections or fears or whether we are living from a higher level of openness and consciousness that allows us to see ourselves and all around us as part of the wholeness of all that is.

We move into this new lunar cycle on June 4th (11:01 pm EDT) as the Sun and Moon come together.  The New Moon lies near the royal star of the east, Aldebaran.  Aldebaran is associated with the Persian prophet Zarathustra who sought to guide others in seeing the world around us as sacred and to live in right balance with all that is.  The energy of this star is about living in integrity and in truth with clear thoughts and actions.”  Heather Ensworth

New Moon in Gemini

“Intent is infinite.” Carlos Castaneda

The Moon is new Saturday at 14 degrees of Gemini EDT at 10:59 PM. The Sun, Moon and Venus are conjunct at this time and form a grand square with the Saturn/Neptune/Jupiter configuration. The alignment with Venus indicates the potential for bringing abundance into your life is strong now – with clear intentions and the willingness to leave behind or put into appropriate perspective – relationships or relationship dynamics that no longer work for you.

The Sabian symbols for Saturn and Neptune at this time are, “A widow’s past is brought to light,” and, “A sword in a museum.” It bodes well to stop fighting old battles and to look for new perspectives on the past – particularly those that bring in a healing, wise or spiritual perspective. Another symbol is, ” An examination of initiates in a spiritual brotherhood,” indicating a time to assess how you have grown in your understanding of spiritual values such as kindness and forgiveness.

It is a good time also to be open to guidance, intuitions and messages from Higher Powers. The symbol for Uranus is,” An open window and net curtain blowing  in the shape of a cornucopia,” and one for Mercury is ,”A moving finger points to significant passages in a book,” Do be aware of signs and symbols at this time.

We are living in revolutionary times and with the speed and quality of information coming at us now, life can feel a bit taxing. The Quest degree for Mercury’s placement – Mercury governing how you think and communicate –   is,  “A white dove flying straight and fearlessly over troubled waters.”

Neptune, Saturn, the Sun and Venus

“Under the Saturn/ Neptune influence we can feel that our existing life structures don’t measure up to our ideal. We must realize that this moment is IT – this life is our vessel of the spirit. Saturn Neptune tells me, manifest your vision now.  Master your disappointment. Build and sustain the temple of your life. Don’t fall apart or waste away or become dysfunctional.” Greg Bogart, The Mt Astrologer.

This week the influence of the Saturn/ Neptune/ Jupiter configuration is strong. The Sun and Venus will move up to a square to Neptune mid week. These aspects bode well for creativity and spiritual development but can also distort pragmatic vision. There is a tendency to see what you would like to see rather than what is really there. The tendency towards  fantasy and projection is strong at this time.

The Sun and Venus will then move up to an opposition to Saturn – the Lord of Time, Consequences and Karma and a square to Jupiter – the planet of expansion. When Saturn’s influence is strong there is a lesson to be learned and it may well be about how  realistic and strong the foundations of you plans are. If you feel slowed down or discouraged by this influence do check to see if there is a pattern to the way you approach things that may need to be adjusted. Much of this time has to do with keeping your visions inspired while overcoming obstacles related to Saturn’s lessons of discipline, patience and the “rules of the road.”

We are heading into Saturday’s New Moon in Gemini – a seed point for setting new intentions. The month of June is particularly strong for new beginnings as it starts out under the influence of a waning Moon. It bodes well the think about what you are planning to leave behind in starting a new time in your life. And in Gemini this particularly has to do with leaving behind outlived thought and communication  patterns in order to be in touch with something that is more evolved, vibrant and authentic.

Mercury, Pluto and the North Node

“Once you have seen the larger pattern, you cannot go back to seeing the part as the whole.” Ursula K. Le Guin

Through early next week Mercury – the planet governing thinking and communication – will make a favorable alignment with Pluto – the Lord  of the Underworld. This is an excellent time to deepen your thinking, to be open to information you may have overlooked and to identify and shed outdated concepts of yourself, what you value and how you think of your life’s direction.

Make space for increased clarity and an evolved sense of wholeness. Information is available about how to proceed along your life path if you raise awareness and are attuned to it as Mercury also aligns favorably with the North Node of destiny. Be open to something new.

One of the blessings of retrograde periods – Mars is retrograde now through the end of June- is that in our fast moving, forward looking times, they provide a natural time frame for reconsideration and reassessment. With Mars retrograde through the end of June there is a good opportunity to review what you feel deeply passionate about and how you implement and direct your power.

It bodes well to go through your belongings and get rid of  objects that hold old energy or represent associations you have outgrown.

Like the snake it is time to shed an old skin and transform.

Jupiter Squares Saturn

“Eternity is in love with the productions of time.” William Blake

This week the Jupiter/Saturn square is exact and in close aspect with the planet ruling dreams, visions and illusions.  It is a good time to keep hope and optimism in the picture along with discernment and respect for the mandates of  Saturn – the ruler of discipline and mundane time. As with the myth of Icarus it’s not a good time to be flying too close to the sun in terms of actions related to inflated dreams and expectations. Rather factor in a solid foundation and steady path forward. Be willing to be patient.

Juno is in a complicated aspect to Venus now. This can bring up conflict in committed relationships (of any kind) around the need for individual independence/ autonomy and  the needs of the relationship/partnership.  There is not a pressing need to act on any perceptions in this area now- it is best to clarify issues and figure out strategies for striking a better balance.

The need to discernment in regards to your individual life and strivings as well as the collective life on our planet will be an important theme throughout the year. Best to keep it in the picture.

The Sun in Gemini and the Full Moon

“Remember that in the early days of the feminist movement, they refused to have a leader; different women would just stand up and speak. The early feminists were very careful to not put what was spontaneously arising back in the old bottle.” James Hillman

There is an abundance of planetary activity over the next few days. The Sun enters Gemini Friday 5/20, the Moon waxes full Saturday at 1 degree of Sagittarius and Mercury stations direct on Sunday 5/22.

With the Sun’s entrance into Gemini and the Full Moon in Sagittarius in addition to the many planets in mutable signs,  it is wise to place the emphasis on flexibility  – particularly flexibility in the way you think and consider things. Do be more open in this area.

One of the interesting things about the Gemini/Sagittarius axis is that the sign of Gemini is associated with the gathering of ideas and details. The sign of its opposite, Sagittarius, is associated with an over-lighting philosophy or belief system that unites what otherwise might be fragmented or unrelated information. As life continues to move forward at breakneck speed here on our small planet, this is a good idea to consider in your own life.

Mars is highlighed at the time of this Full Moon and with its  retrograde motion indicates that caution and patience are  well advised in situations where anger and aggression might suddenly arise.

Mars is also associated with the hero’s journey (in our time particularly) and with the Mars/Sun/Moon configuration there is an opportunity to experience more passion and clarity about what you feel  deeply called to do in your life.  Do be attentive to the culmination of information which may arise now through early next week – around the Mercury station.

“Each life is formed by its unique image, an image that is the essence of that life and calls it to a destiny. This image acts as a personal daimon, an accompanying guide who remembers your calling. The daimon motivates. It protects. It invents and persists with stubborn fidelity. It resists compromising reasonableness. It offers comfort and can pull you into its shell, but it cannot abide innocence. It is out of step with time.” James Hillman

Mercury and Mars Retrograde

“Despair is hidden arrogance : ‘I have seen the future and it doesn’t work.’ Hope is rooted in trust of the unknown. Work, wait and hope. That is enough. Sam Keen

With Mercury and Mars now retrograde (Mercury through 5/23 and Mars through the end of June) there can be more confusion than usual with processing feelings and information. This can be in part because of the retrograde period – which provides a better time for review and revisioning – particularly about your plans and options for proceeding – than trying to push forward. It is a good time to practice patience. Don’t let delays or snags with technology catch you by surprise.

With Mars and Saturn in Sagittarius it is a good time also to consider the interplay between faith and fear in your life. Saturn’s square to Neptune, an ongoing influence this year, has to do with in part with experiencing disillusionment – in a sense seeing through the veil – and what we learn and how we grow from these types of experiences.

“Doubt isn’t the opposite of faith: it is an element of faith.” Paul Tillich
