Venus in Leo

“It takes a heap of loafing to write a book.” Gertrude Stein

Venus is is Leo now – a dynamic fiery sign- and moving up to a harmonious aspect with Saturn in Sagittarius. This will help get things back on track and help facilitate movement forward with well conceived, long term plans – a welcome relief after the long transit of Mars retrograde (since mid April. ) That time frame was better for an inner exploration of how to move forward rather than actually moving forward but usually comes with a modicum of frustration (Mars is the god of action likes to charge ahead.)  Now is a good time to put things in order and proceed wisely. As Caroling Casey wrote -“Saturn lays the tracks for the reality train to follow.”

And just a brief word on the  testy Mars/Uranus aspect which is exact Thursday. Both Mars and Uranus govern speed – Uranus adding the sudden, surprising and unexpected. Uranus also rules all things cyber. In terms of history our use of cyber technology is relatively new and has dramatically increased the speed with which news and events from around the world can reach us. This can be hard on nervous systems and difficult to integrate at the time.

With other aspects at play now it bodes well to provide extra down time for introspection, rest and rejuvenation.

One of the Sabian symbols for this time is,” A double promise reveals its inner and outer meanings.”

Sabian Symbol quote from Lynda Hill

Mars and Uranus

“Have patience and the mulberry leaf will become silk.”

This week is a good time to practice restraint and patience as Mars – now  gathering strength – continues to move up to an exact  inconjunct aspect to Uranus on Thursday. It is a good time to avoid impulsive activity. There can be increased irritability and frayed nerves at this time.

In a larger sense much of the upheaval occurring on the planet now is related to  the shift from the Age of Pisces – a time when religion was based on reverence and devotion to an external authority to the Age of Aquarius – a time of the development of higher consciousness in each individual rooted in the soul. As this shift continues to grow the divisiveness and barriers which are so apparent in the world now will break down and  a sense of brotherhood/sisterhood  rooted in the  interconnectedness of all life will become widespread. This is visible now in many circles. People incarnating now are more in tune with it and are coming to help facilitate it.

A new world is trying to be born and it is wise in times like these to envision a positive outcome on the other side.
“So hope for a great sea-change
On the far side of revenge.
Believe that a farther shore is reachable from here.
Believe in miracles
And cures and healing wells.” Seamus Heaney

The Sun, Mercury and Jupiter

“We fear the sunrise in us.” Michael Murphy
Jupiter the planet of hope, optimism and expansion is strong in the sky through the weekend as the Sun and Mercury align harmoniously with it. It is a great time for learning, for teaching, for traveling – for anything that broadens your perspective and broadens your horizons. Jupiter also governs faith and it is good time to be in touch with the philosophy that provides hope  and inspiration in your life and see if it needs to be expanded.

Eris – the goddess of discord -is strong in the sky now and is shaking things up – bringing things to the surface that previously have been hidden. It is a good time to look at ways you may habitually and unnecessarily limit your life’s possibilities and opportunities. Saturn is in Sagittarius now and this has to do with looking at life as an adventure.

It is a good time to put into practice ways things that will  improve your health and overall well being over time.

Saturn – the planet of Father Time – is retrograde in Sagittarius now through the end of September. People with Saturn retrograde in their astrology charts can have trouble with being in time in the right way. This can result in situations like feeling you are always behind or assuming that because things “haven’t happened” that they are not going to happen. It bodes well to look at what your relationship to time is.

Venus Trines Mars

“Magical connection,  genuine affection,
Parallel direction, in between the lines…
On a windy street or subway street its like the sunshine
when two people meet and speechlessly
Are spaced right out of time.” John Sebastion.

Romance is in the air as Venus moves up to a trine to Mars over the next few days. It is also a very good time for creativity, meditation and an artist approach to work projects. Do entertain creative ways to improve what you do or would like to be doing in your work life, your income or other aspects of your finances that you would like to improve.
It is aslo a good time for aesthetics – If you would like to improve your appearance or create a more harmonious environment where you live do proceed in that kind direction. This will help enhance a new sense of yourself as you move forward.

Monday’s New Moon & Weekend Astrology

“I should have been a pair of ragged claws scuttling across the floors of silent seas.” TS Eliot

The Moon  waxes new this Monday July 4 at 7:01 am in the feminine sign of Cancer. The crab is the symbol associated with this sign and the crab carries her home on her back and can protect herself  well -if necessary- by retreating into her hard outer shell. It is a sign associated with love of roots, family and nurturing and when things become challenging Cancers – like the crab -can retreat to their own inner sanctum for nurturing, protection and revitalization.

There is a lot of energy to tap into this weekend leading up to the New Moon and it is bodes well to get involved with projects that need organization. It is a good time to shed old things that no longer feel appropriate in your life – both material things as well as attitudes and beliefs. This New Moon is about who you are becoming and consequently about what has to go to make that happen.

It is a good time to think about how nurturing your home is and how you might like to improve that. Be creative. Consider how you care for yourself and how you nurture your aspirations for your life. Be in touch with what you feel passionate about. Consider setting intentions about caring for yourself in ways that improve your well being – with diet , exercise, meditation, down time for retreat and renewal..

At this time the Sun, Moon and Venus will be opposing Pluto. It is best to use the energy proactively and dynamically and focus on who you are becoming and how you plan to support yourself through the shifting tides moving ahead.

Mars is picking up speed on this journey forward but is in an awkward relationship with Uranus the ruler of the unexpected. This, along with a number of other influences can contribute to a more irritable atmosphere and it is best to avoid impulsive action.

One of the Sabian symbols for this time is,”A large diamond in the first stages of the cutting process.”

Mercury, Venus and Mars

“Perception is a mirror, not a fact.” A Course in Miracles

Mercury the planet of thought and communication moves out of the airy sign of  Gemini today and into the watery sign of the Crab, Cancer. This creates a shift  from a heady, multi- faceted  orientation  to one  that is more emotional –  and provides  a good time to think about how you nurture yourself and others and about issues having to do with family, roots and the past.  The shadow side of Mercury in Cancer has to do with being stuck in a perception of the past that is rigid or no longer appropriate. It is good to consider as you review these issues whether you are approaching them through a fresh current perspective or whether your perspectives need some updating. Mercury will be in Cancer through mid July.

Change and transformation is very much in the air now as Venus opposes Pluto and sextiles the North Node/Jupiter conjunction. This configuration speaks of an evolutionary threshold where important long lasting changes can be made. It is a good time to make healthy decisions about your life going forward in terms of self esteem, financial well being and relationships. It is important to clarify what you need to leave behind in order to evolve in these areas. Pluto is a planet associated with past lives and karmic inheritances and it is wise to watch how you think about making changes in these areas and that your perception of who you are and where you are going is based in the present and on current beliefs about yourself and what you can do. In mythology Pluto liked to take hostages and it is important now to not be held back by limited beliefs that are not current but may be the result of family, cultural or religious influences that you no longer buy into.

Mars stations direct today. The ruler of dynamic action will now gain strength boding well for gaining traction in any endeavors that may have been challenging during the recent retrograde phase (since mid-April.) The retrograde phase provided a time for reflection about how your implement your energy to move forward and make your aspirations real. Do take any new related perceptions forward with you as you move on with more ease now.

One of the Sabian symbols for the Mars station is,”A rabbit metamorphosed into a nature spirit.”

The Sun Trines Neptune

From the outside the stone is a riddle.
No one knows how to answer it.
Yet within, it must be cool and quiet
Even though a cow steps on it full weight,
Even though a child throws it in a river;
The stone sinks, slow, unperturbed
To the river bottom…
I have seen sparks fly out
When two stones are rubbed,
So perhaps it is not dark inside after all;
Perhaps there is a moon shining
From somewhere, as though behind a hill –
Just enough light to make out
The strange writings, the star-charts
On the inner walls.”  Charles Simic
Over the next few days the Sun in Cancer will move up to a harmonious trine to Neptune – the planet of dreams and visions. It bodes well to set aside some time to be in the place of mystery and inspiration. Visiting a place that is special to you and that restores your sense of wholeness and your sense of interconnectedness is a good use of this energy.

One of the Sabian symbols for this time is, “In a quiet moment, a creative individual experiences the flow of inspiration.”

Sabian symbol quote by Lynda Hill

Mars Stations Direct

“I think there is nothing in the world but mystery.” Kenneth Patchen

Mars is preparing to station direct on Wednesday at 23 degrees of Scorpio. One of the intriguing aspects of stationing planets is that for a few days before the station and a few days after, information can surface that represents a culmination of knowledge about what the retrograde period has meant for you. Mystery can abound.

As this retrograde period draws to a close do be willing to look at how broad you allow your future horizons to be. Do you need to re-energize your courage to move forward?  How willing are you to pursue adventure in your life? Does your underlying philosophy of life in general need to be shifted to support a broader view?

Mars has traversed back through the sign of Sagittarius and  will station in Scorpio – the sign of mystery. Do be aware of your deeper knowing at this time. It can be a time of increased wisdom. Be aware of opportunities to resolve inner conflicts and unite dualities.

One of the Sabian symbols for this time is, “The king of the fairies approaches his domain.”

Sabian symbol quote by Lynda Hill

The Sun and Venus in Cancer

“We dull our lives by the way we conceive them. We have stopped imagining them with any romance, any fictional flair. We must dare to envision biography in terms of very large ideas such as beauty, mystery and myth.” James Hillman
Today marks the Summer Solstice – when the Sun enters Cancer. Cancer is the sign of mothering, of nurturing and of protection.  Over the next few weeks take some time to nurture your desires for a more soulful, expansive life. It bodes well to commit to nurturing and protecting your dreams as well.
One of the Sabian symbols for the Sun’e entrance into Cancer is,”A man on a magic carpet observes vast vistas below.”
It is also good time to appreciate and be grateful for the many gifts that come to us from the Sun’s light and warmth and from Mother Earth. And to envision a healthy future for our small planet.
“Without our dreams we would not be able to step outside ourselves and transform our limitations.” Diane Mariechild

Monday’s Full Moon

“I’m pretty clear that it’s never been so necessary to befriend people who don’t share my values.” Lynn Bell

The Moon waxes full Monday June 20 at 7:02 AM EDT. This is the second Sagittarius Full Moon in a row – the first one on on May 21 at the first degree and Monday’s Full Moon at the last degree – the 29th degree. This indicates a time of endings and beginnings. Shortly after the Moon waxes full the Sun enters the sign of Cancer (at 6:34 PM EDT) – marking the Summer Solstice. Throughout time and all over the earth ceremonies have  been held to honor and commemorate this time.

The Sun, the Moon and Juno are all at the 29th degree – making this a potent time to clarify  your commitments going forward – commitments to yourself, to work and projects and to others.

One of the Sabiam symbols at this time is,  “A sword in a museum.” This symbol speaks of the need to put down to sword – to stop fighting old battles and think twice before engaging in disagreements or conflict at this time. The Full Moon is an intense time and with Mars standing still in the sky and other potent aspects, anger and aggression can arise suddenly and conflict can escalate more quickly.

One of the symbols for the Sun at this time is,”On a ship sailors lower an old flag and raise a new one.” This also indicates a good time to explore what the new commitments and ideas about your future are  – and let the outdated ones go. If you have recently completed a project or take some time to honor your accomplishments.

“Magic crowns this time of year for Midsummer has long been considered a night when the veil between the worlds is thin…Drink in the abundant beauty of our little planet at this inspiring time of year. If you light a bonfire, campfire, hearth fire, or even a simple candle, in honor of this “turning of the wheel” of the solar year, you are reviving a practice that stretches back through millennia. Observing and honoring these ancient, natural “holy days” helps the entire world revive and heal a split that has gone on way too long between Mother Earth and her human children.” Blue Moon Astrology
